Gabala
Gabala city’s historical background has been as colorful as its existence and has formed one of the brightest pages of Azerbaijan’s history. The city situated about 225 km from Baku, on the southern slopes of the Greater Caucasus mountains. The elevation of the city is 753 meters above sea level.

Historical Significance.
Gabala is the ancient capital of Caucasian Albania. Archaeological evidence indicates that the city functioned as the capital of Caucasian Albania as early as the 4th century BC. Up to the present time, there are the ruins of the ancient city, they are situated 15 km from the regional centre.
 

Cultural Heritage.
Gabala also boasts many museums such as Historical Ethnography Museum of Gabala and Gabala Cultural Centre, most notably featuring Folk Theatre named after Jalil Mammadguluzadeh.

Sightseeings
  • The lavender fields. To discover the wide-ranging wonders of lavender, you can visit the Essenso lavender plantation in the north-western region of Gabala, nestling at the foot of the Caucasus Mountains. The 30-hectare lavender farm lies amid stunning countryside in the village of Chukhur Gabala.
  • Nij village. Located 40 kilometers south-west of the city of Qabala, Nij is one of the world's few settlements of Udi people. There are three churches and two mosques in Nij, which is home to 3,700 Udis. You can explore the history and culture of this warm community by visiting the beautifully restored 17th-century Albanian church (Chotari Church) which sits shaded by magnificent plane trees not far from the village centre.
  • Nohur Lake. Enjoy the tranquility of Nahur Lake surrounded by greenery. Nohur Lake is located about 5 km eat of the centre.  This picturesque lake had a mountainous forest on the opposite side of the tourist developed restaurants and boating facilities. We are Considering to take a boat ride for serene experience.
  • Yeddi Gozel Waterfall - Seven Beauty Waterfall.  Discovery the beauty of Yeddi Gozel, a captivating waterwall tucked away in the scenic landscapes of Gabala. "Yeddi Gozal" waterfall is located 4 km far from the center of Gabala city, in the settlement of Vendam of Gabala district. The waterfall consists of seven cascades, hence its name.
  • Tufandag Resort is a popular destination and located around 4 km from the city center of Gabala. The place known for its winter and summer sport facilities and picturesque surrounding. The resort is renowned for its winter sports facilities offering skiing and snowboarding opportunities. The skiing season starts on the 15th of December and lasts until March 31. Cable car starts and ends at heights of 956 and 1,660 metres above sea level, respectively. Each car has a capacity of 8 people (640 kg). It is able to carry 2,165 people per hour
  • Gabala Archaeological Center. Located Chukhur-Gabala village and the official opening of Gabala Archaeological Center took place on September 22, 2014. President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev participated in the opening ceremony. Currently, in a 3-storey building and on the territory of the Gabala Archaeological Center, there are: 2 exhibition halls (museum), a restoration laboratory, a conference hall (with equipment for simultaneous translation), a library, a kitchen-dining room, rooms for members of the expedition and guests, an office for employees
  • Gabala Shooting. Gabala Shooting Club is part of the Gabala Sport Club, a world-class facility that prepares the athletes for the national teams of Azerbaijan in shooting, boxing, karate, taekwondo, soccer, and judo. The Shooting Center is located in Hamzali village is Gabala
